Mobile Alabama is moving forward

Last Thursday the Planning Commission voted to recommend the downtown form based code to the city council. That was great news for those of us who simply must have a plan. Hopefully the final ordinance will arrive at the city clerk’s office by the morning of January 23, the “Call for Public Hearing” can be made by the council at their January 28 meeting. If that takes place, the Public Hearing would be February 25 which would allow for the required 4 weeks of advertising.

The Downtown Mobile Alliance hired a firm led by Andres Duany to study Mobile and draft a plan for moving Mobile forward as we prepare for the trans-formative growth we can expect from Airbus. The most recent version of the Form Based Code for Downtown Mobile is posted at www.downtownmobile.org.
