If you smell gas

With the cold weather approaching people are turning their furnaces on and the danger of a fire or explosion is very real. On October 29th a house at 24 Ablett Ave in Whitsboro NY exploded killing the only person in the house. The cause of the explosion has not been determined but according to the local paper officials have “confirmed that neighbors reported a strong odor of gas in the area earlier Saturday evening, and that [the owner] had just had her furnace replaced in mid-September after it was damaged by flooding.” http://www.uticaod.com/m/news/x780395997/Cause-of-fatal-gas-explosion-remains-under-investigation

This follows a similar explosion in Ky in many more happening all too often nationwide.

Winter-time precautions:  If you smell gas please warn your neighbors, leave the area and call the gas company and fire department immediately.
