Health insurance reform

Medical insurance companies are campaigning vigorously to protect their lucrative business. One of their catch phrases “Don’t let the government get between you and your doctor” is particularly worthy of scrutiny. Today, the insurance company stands between the doctor and patient. Every procedure and medication that the insurance company approves reduces the company’s profitability. This conflict of interest has lead to the denial of claims based upon a “lack of medical necessity” “preexisting condition” and in many cases rescission of the policy when the patient is most in need of care.

If somebody is going to stand between my doctor and me I would much rather have a disinterested bureaucrat than a conflicted insurance adjuster.
